The IGSDB is designed to hold both glazing and shading types, as well as modernize and refine many of the older conventions and definitions first started in the IGDB and CDGB databases.

This section attempts to outline some of the conventions and definitions that have changed in the transition from the IGDB and CGDB to the IGSDB V1, and ultimately, the IGSDB v2.
